About Digital Declutterer
Plain-English help for the digital clutter nobody taught you to fix
Full phones, thousands of photos, inboxes you avoid, files you cannot find and accounts you forgot you had. We show you how to clear them safely, one step at a time.
Who is behind the site
Built from years of tech support
Digital Declutterer is a small, independent site. The guides grew out of a few years in tech support, helping everyday people with their phones, computers and online accounts.
The same problems came up again and again: a phone that says storage is full, a photo library spread across three devices, an inbox with thousands of unread emails, a laptop someone wanted to sell without leaving their data on it, and subscriptions nobody remembered signing up for.
Most of the help online was written for people who already understand the technology. It skipped the step that matters most for everyone else: making sure nothing important is lost. This site is the plain-English version of the steps we would walk you through on a support call, written down, checked and kept up to date.
Written for people who are not tech people
Why this site exists
Digital clutter builds up quietly. Nobody teaches you how to manage it, and the settings change every year. We started Digital Declutterer for people who:
- keep getting “storage full” warnings and do not know what is safe to delete
- are worried about losing family photos while cleaning up
- open their inbox and close it again
- cannot find a file they saved last week
- pay for subscriptions they forgot about
- want their family to be able to reach their accounts one day
Our standards
How every guide is made
Back up before you delete
Every guide puts a backup check before any delete step, and explains what a delete removes on your other synced devices.
Checked against official help
Menu paths are checked against Apple, Google and Microsoft help pages. The date we checked is shown at the end of each guide.
Rechecked after updates
We review guides after major iOS, Android, Windows and macOS releases, and update the date when steps change.
Plain English
Short steps, real menu names and no jargon. Where a setting varies by device, we say so instead of guessing.
How the site is funded
The guides, the cleanup planner and the five free tools are free, with no sign-up needed. We fund the site by selling a small number of printable kits that put every step for one big job into a single workbook.
There are no ads on this site, and no company pays us to mention or recommend its products. When a guide names an app or service, it is because it does the job, and we tell you the limits too.
